A Study on School Refusal in Local Regions in South Korea

Abstract
This research exercise is a study into the concept and related variables regarding school refusal. This study was conducted in order to identify the conceptual background of and reasons behind school refusal, as well as measurement tools, related variables and related counseling research. In this study, the reasons behind school refusal in local areas in Korea will be integrated and arranged in the context of existing literature review methods, the research results themselves will be systematically analyzed and described. The results suggested that there are differences in the views of scholars regarding the conceptual basis of school refusal. It was further found that this needs to be studied using a variety of measurement tools adapted from overseas measurement tools. Research into school refusal and related variables has, up until now, not been conducted in a diverse enough manner. Finally, in counseling research involving studies about individual case studies and group programs, it was found that the studies that dealt directly with school refusal students were rare, with the exception of the empirical studies in which the diagnosis and therapeutic interventions were conducted targeting small numbers of students who entered hospital Additionally, it was also found that existing programs may be valuable tools which can be used to verify the effects on school refusal students. Therefore, for more efficient prevention and intervention, the realities of school refusal research have been identified and future research directions have been suggested.
